One on One Lactation Consultant Care and Postpartum Doula Services
Lactation sessions typically last 30 minutes to 1 hour. First time sessions and sessions with latch assessments / weighted feedings may last 2 hours. Additional follow-ups may be subject to a new session charge. Latch assessment, infant weight checks, daily needs calculations, and milk transfer calculations, are some of my most frequent services. Sore nipples, adequate milk production, latch questions, formula supplementation, engorgement, bowel movements (what is normal?), Returning to work pumping plans, and weaning are some of the most frequent concerns I counsel on. Breastfeeding cheerleading texts are always on the (light)house. Once we am in your corner we are always in your corner. We will check in on mother and baby throughout the first year free of charge, as I love to hear when things are going well not just when something is amiss.
Many insurance plans are accepted for lactation services. Most plans from Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Anthem, PHCS, Multiplan, Molina, Meridian, Mclaren, HAP, Priority Health, United Health Care, and Cigna can be accepted and often provide at least six covered lactation care sessions. Benefits from VA CCN and Tricare can also be accepted. If you or your infant has insurance that you would like to verify coverage for lactation care, email [email protected] for us to check your benefits.
We also provide birth and postpartum doula counseling for mothers whether or not they choose not to breastfeed. This may entail parenting education, newborn and infant care lessons, or just a listening ear who has been there before to walk with you on your motherhood journey. Prenatal Doula visits are often 1 to 2 hours and tend to be education or birth planning focused. Postpartum Doula visits are often 2 to 3 hours and tend to be mother and infant care focused. Education and connecting with community resources is often a component of postpartum care. We often will support with very light home care such as washing pump and bottle parts or supporting the infant’s laundry needs. Care can be negotiated in other durations based on needs.
All MI Medicaid plans and a few commercial plans will cover doula care, email [email protected] to check benefits. MI Medicaid plans are currently covering 12 doula sessions per pregnancy/birth! We will also work with Carrot or other employer sponsored benefits to get you covered care.
HSA & FSA cards accepted. Inquire about out-of-pocket prices, we will use a sliding scale to make quality lactation care and doula services accessible to parents!
We frequently serve Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne Counties. Some of our staff are also able to travel to Washtenaw, Lenawee, and Livingston Counties. We have served nationwide via telehealth for lactation care as IBCLC is an international certification. Lactation Consultant License held in Oregon for telehealth care. Doula care has some state specific rules and registries when billing insurances so check with us to be sure if you are considering us for your telehealth doula provider.
